The details
How bundles on subscription work
Can one Shopify app do subscriptions and bundles?
Yes. In Supr one offer holds bundle options and subscription options together, so a shopper picks a pack, a set or a box, then one-time or a delivery frequency, on one product page. Every kind of bundle works on subscription: buy more and save more packs, build-your-own boxes, buy 2 get 1 free and ready-made sets, with gifts and add-ons.
A subscribed bundle keeps its bundle discount on every repeat order by default, or for the first orders only if you choose. Subscribers change their box in the customer portal, and one analytics page shows bundle and subscription revenue side by side.
How does a bundle on subscription work?
The bundle option sets the pack price first, then the subscription discount comes off that price. Two percentages multiply rather than add. A $20 product in a 3 pack at 10% off costs $54; with a 5% subscription discount on top, the subscriber pays $51.30 per delivery, 14.5% off in total.
The order contains the real products, so stock comes off each one and fulfilment works as normal. Repeat orders charge the same bundle price, unless you limited the bundle discount to the first orders.
How do I set it up?
- In Shopify, open Supr Bundle & Subscription App > Offers and click Create offer.
- Choose Bundle + Subscription, then a starting point: quantity breaks, Buy X get Y, fixed bundle, build your own, or gifts and add-ons.
- Choose the products the offer shows on: all products, some collections or some products.
- Set up the bundle options, then the subscription options underneath with their frequency and discount.
- Click Save. The offer is published, and the options appear above add to cart on those product pages.

What do shoppers see?
On the product page the shopper picks a bundle option, such as a 3 pack or a box they fill, then one-time or a delivery frequency underneath, with the price for each choice shown before they add to cart. If each of your options already says how it is bought, you can make it one choice instead of two: a 3 pack on subscription and a 6 pack one-time, side by side.
Every word the shopper reads, from the heading to the badges and the box prompts, can be reworded and translated. In the cart and at checkout the real products are listed, and a subscribed bundle shows its delivery frequency.
What happens when the subscription renews?
Each repeat order charges the subscribed bundle at its bundle price and ships the same products, or the box the subscriber last saved in the portal. If you limited the bundle price to the first orders, the product page says so under the options, and the repeat order reminder before the first order without it tells the customer. Skipped orders do not count toward that number.
Subscribers can skip, reschedule, change frequency or pause like any other subscription, and cancellation flows, loyalty rewards and journeys apply to bundled subscriptions too.
How do the bundle discount and the subscription discount combine?
You decide, per offer and per option:
| You want | Setup |
|---|---|
| Both discounts for subscribers | The default: the bundle price, then the subscription discount |
| The bundle discount on one-time orders only | Turn off Apply discount to subscriptions on the bundle option |
| Pack discounts for subscribers only | Bundle options at full price, plus one subscription option per pack with its own discount |
| The bundle price for the first orders only | Turn on Bundle discount for the first orders only and set the number of orders |
| A different frequency for each pack | One subscription option per frequency, each restricted to its pack |
One app or two: what to check
Some stores run a subscription app and a separate bundle app that work together. If you are weighing that, these are the questions that decide it:
- Repeat order price: what does a subscribed bundle cost on the second and later orders, and can you choose?
- Setup: do the bundle and the subscription live in one offer, or in two apps you keep in step?
- Customer portal: can subscribers change a bundle or a box themselves, and is it repriced?
- Reporting: can you see bundle and subscription revenue together?
- Support: when a subscribed bundle prices wrong, which app's team owns it?
In Supr each answer is one app: one offer, one portal, one analytics page, one support team.
Examples
- Coffee: a build-a-box of 2 coffees and a filter pack, every 4 weeks, keeping 15% off on every repeat order.
- Supplements: a 3 pack every 3 months and a 6 pack every 6 months, each pack restricted to its own frequency.
- Skincare: a routine set at 20% off for the first 3 orders, then the regular subscription price.
- Snacks: mix and match any 12, subscribers swapping flavours in the portal before each delivery.
Which vendors need two apps
Several vendors sell subscriptions and bundles as two separate apps that work together, so a store selling both installs, configures and maintains two. In Supr they are one app, with one customer portal, and a bundle sold on subscription is a single offer.
| Vendor | Subscriptions | Bundles | Apps to install for both |
|---|---|---|---|
| Supr | Supr Bundle & Subscription App | The same app | 1 |
| Appstle | Appstle | Appstle Bundles | 2 |
| Kaching | Kaching Subscriptions | Kaching Bundles | 2 |
| Seal | Seal Subscriptions | Bundler | 2 |
From each vendor's own listings and help pages.
Where to start
Start with either
Bundles first
When you want subscriptions, switch the offer to Bundle + Subscription and every bundle can be bought one-time or on subscription, keeping its bundle discount on every repeat order. Same app, no second app, no migration.
Subscriptions first
Every kind of bundle is built in: buy more and save more discounts, build-your-own boxes, buy 2 get 1 free, ready-made sets and free gifts, sold one-time or on subscription from the same offer.
Questions
Can customers subscribe to a bundle on Shopify?
Yes. In Supr any bundle option in a Bundle + Subscription offer can be bought on subscription, and the bundle discount is kept on every repeat order unless you limit it.
Do I need two apps for subscriptions and bundles?
Not with Supr: subscriptions and every bundle type are in one app and one offer.
Can I keep the bundle discount for the first orders only?
Yes. Turn on Bundle discount for the first orders only and set how many orders, the first one included.
Can each pack ship on a different schedule?
Yes. Add one subscription option per frequency and restrict each to its pack.
Can subscribers change what is in their box?
Yes, in the customer portal, and the box is repriced at the discount step its new contents reach.
How do I stop the two discounts stacking?
Turn off Apply discount to subscriptions on the bundle option, so the bundle discount applies to one-time orders only.
Can I start with bundles and add subscriptions later?
Yes. Change the offer type to Bundle + Subscription and add a subscription option; the bundles you already sell keep working.
Does stock come off the real products?
Yes. Orders contain the real products, on the first order and on every repeat order.
