How does a candle shop reward bigger carts with free shipping at $50 and a free gift at $80?

The example used here

A candle shop sells candles at $28 to $40. It wants three rewards: 5% off from $50 and 10% off from $80, free shipping from $50, and a free sample candle for bigger carts. The dollar amounts are an illustration, use your own. This article says plainly which of those parts the docs confirm and which you should test.

Part 1: the progress bar (percentage off tiers)

1. Click Spend more, save more and set up to 5 tiers: Spend at least (in your store's currency) and Percentage off, for example 50 at 5 and 80 at 10.
2. Choose what Counts: every item in the cart, one-time items only, or subscription items only.
3. Reword the Progress text (`{remaining}` is the amount still to spend, `{discount}` the next tier's percentage) and the Last tier reached text, and set the bar's colour, corners and type under Style.
4. Click Save, then turn the toggle on.

Under Design > Add-on settings, the Spend more, save more add-on gives an order discount once the cart reaches a spend tier, with a progress bar at the top of the cart page and the cart drawer that reads like "Spend $20.00 more to save 5%".

How the tiers behave

• Each tier is a Shopify automatic discount the app creates, so checkout applies it. You see them under Discounts in Shopify. Change them in the app, because every save replaces them.
• Shopify applies the best tier the cart reaches.
• The tiers combine with bundle discounts, subscription discounts and shipping discounts, but not with other order discounts.
• The bar needs the app embed on, and minimums are converted for shoppers paying in another currency.

Part 2: free shipping at $50

The help center shows the free shipping discount as a Shopify one: in Shopify Discounts, Create discount, choose Free shipping, set the method to Automatic, and set a Minimum purchase amount (or a Minimum quantity of items). Its guide is written for subscriptions, where you also choose Purchase type = Subscription. For a one-time candle order the same screen has the same minimum purchase fields, so build it there and test a real cart.

One thing the guide stresses if you sell bundles: in Combinations, tick Product discounts (and Order discounts if you run any). A bundle option's price is applied as a Shopify product discount, and when free shipping does not combine with it, Shopify keeps only the bigger saving and the shopper pays for shipping. Keep a single automatic free shipping discount, since two add nothing and make the result harder to predict.

Part 3: the free gift

What the docs confirm is a free gift attached to an option, not to a cart total. On a bundle option, click Free gifts, turn it on, click Add a gift to pick the product and set its Quantity, then set Gift applies to (First order only or Every order (ongoing)). A gift shows as its own row with the normal price struck through and the word Free. The gallery on Choose a bundle type has a Gifts & add-ons filter with a "Free gift on bigger orders" starting point, so start there: a 3 candle option can carry the gift while the single candle does not.

A reward that depends on how much a subscriber has spent is also documented, as a Spend rewards journey under Grow > Journeys. It rewards a subscription once its total spend passes a Spend threshold you set, with a free product among the rewards, so it is for subscribers, not for a one-time cart.

Not confirmed in the help center: a single cart value tier that adds a free gift, and one progress bar that counts toward free shipping, a gift and a discount at once. If you need either, build the pieces above, then test a real cart and look at what the bar says.

What shoppers see, in one table
