How does a supplement store offer auto-ship every 30, 60 or 90 days on Shopify?
Use a Bundle + Subscription offer in Supr: quantity break bundle options for 1, 2 and 3 bottles, and three subscription options that repeat every 30, 60 and 90 Days. On each subscription option, turn on Restrict to specific bundle options and tick only its pack, so each pack shows only its own frequency. Then switch on the Upcoming subscription renewal email so customers get a reminder before every charge.
Who this is for: For supplement and vitamin brands that want customers to auto-ship every 30, 60 or 90 days, with a pack size and a reminder to match.
The example used here
A shop sells a $30 bottle of vitamin D. One bottle lasts 30 days, so a 1 bottle pack ships every 30 days, a 2 bottle pack every 60 days and a 3 bottle pack every 90 days. Subscribers save 15%, 18% and 20%. The per bottle price is $25.50, $24.60 and $24.00, so a bigger pack is the better deal and ships less often. The numbers are only an illustration.
Build the offer
- In Shopify, open Supr Bundle & Subscription App > Offers and create a Bundle + Subscription offer. Pick quantity breaks as the starting point, and keep the single option plus "2 bottles" and "3 bottles".
- Open the first subscription option. Set Repeat order every to 30 and Order intervals to Day, name it "Delivery every 30 days", and set a 15% discount.
- Click Add subscription option twice more: every 60 Day at 18%, and every 90 Day at 20%.
- On each subscription option, turn on Restrict to specific bundle options and tick only its pack: the single option, "2 bottles" or "3 bottles".
- If your bundle options carry their own discount and you do not want it added on top for subscribers, turn off Apply discount to subscriptions on those bundle options.
- Click Save, then click through the three packs on your product page.
Each pack now shows only its own frequency. Tick at least one bundle option per subscription option: with none ticked, the option is not offered anywhere.
What each pack costs
| Pack | Ships every | Subscriber discount | Price per order | Per bottle |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 bottle | 30 days | 15% | $25.50 | $25.50 |
| 2 bottles | 60 days | 18% | $49.20 | $24.60 |
| 3 bottles | 90 days | 20% | $72.00 | $24.00 |
Illustration only. Set your own prices and discounts. Whether a pack's discount stacks with a bundle discount is decided by Apply discount to subscriptions on the bundle option.
Set up the reminder before each renewal
- Open Settings > Notifications > Customer notifications and find the Upcoming subscription renewal card.
- Make sure its toggle is on. Choose an Email reminder lead time: 1 day, 2 days, 3 days, 4 days, 1 week, 2 weeks or 1 month before the renewal. The default is 1 day.
- Under Send for, choose All subscriptions (the default), Prepaid subscriptions only or Only these subscription options.
- Optionally tick Add a Skip this order link. It is off unless you turn it on, and it needs Skip next order turned on under Settings > Customer portal.
The reminder carries a link to manage the subscription. It is a reminder only: the charge happens automatically either way. The lead time is one setting for your whole store. It cannot differ per pack, option or frequency, so on a 90 day cycle pick the notice that suits the longest wait, for example 1 week, and accept that a 30 day member gets it a week before each order too.
What subscribers can change themselves
For you, Settings > Notifications > Staff notifications has an optional daily list of upcoming renewals, 1 day, 2 days, 3 days or 1 week ahead, which helps you plan stock. It does not depend on the customer's reminder being on.
- Skip an order or move it from the customer portal, if you allow it in your portal settings. The skip link in the reminder lands on the same action.
- Switch pack or frequency, where the portal lets customers change their subscription option.
Things to know about day based schedules
- Renew on specific dates is not offered when Order intervals is Day, so every renewal falls a set number of days after the last one, not on a fixed calendar date.
- Prepaid is a different model: one charge, several deliveries. If a 90 day customer should pay once and receive three monthly deliveries, see Prepaid Subscriptions.
- Reword the reminder under Customize email templates, and translate it under Settings > Translations.
Questions
Can I send the reminder a different number of days ahead for each frequency?
No. The lead time is one setting for the whole store. Pick the longest notice you need, and use Send for to limit the reminder to chosen subscription options.
Can the 30 day option be offered only on the 1 bottle pack?
Yes. Turn on Restrict to specific bundle options on the subscription option and tick only the single option.
Does the reminder stop the charge?
No. It is a reminder only, with a link to manage the subscription. The charge happens automatically unless the customer skips or changes the order.
Can customers be sent a skip link in the reminder?
Yes. Tick Add a Skip this order link on the Upcoming subscription renewal card. It needs Skip next order turned on in the customer portal settings.
